Why Trojan Condom is a Trusted Brand in the U.S. - 03/06/2012

Trojan condoms are among the pioneers in the U.S. Manufactured since 1920, this brand is most preferred by many adults who wish to protect themselves from sexually transmitted diseases and from unexpected pregnancy.

Since it was first invented, Trojan condoms remained in the market. Despite the change in management that occurred, the brand was sustained the reason why it stayed in the minds of people for a long time.

Merle Leland Youngs, a New Yorker, was behind the initial success of the condom. This man founded the Youngs Rubber Company in 1920 at a young age of 33. His objective then was to make his Trojan brand of condoms compete head on with closest rivals Sheik of Julius Schmid and the Ramses brand.

Youngs believed in the great potential of their condoms in the U.S. market. Right from the start, he made sure that the company’s products are of top quality and very reliable. Consumers eventually trusted the Trojan condom. In fact, pharmacies preferred to stock the brand over the other competitors such as the Ramses and Sheik. By the year 1975, the condoms achieved much success as it captured 56 percent of the pharmacy market. As of the year 2006, it accounted for more than 70 percent of the condom sales among drugstores.

It was in the year 2001 when the brand was acquired by Church & Dwight. The company continued what Youngs Rubber started and made sure that every condom goes through electronic testing to ensure their durability and reliability.

To date, more than 30 varieties of Trojan condoms are available on the market and more Americans choose this over the others. Depending on the size, texture, flavor and thickness consumers want, there’s sure to be one that will fit their needs and at the right price. All condoms come with lubricants.
